Cholesterol is a kind of fat which develops in liver and essential for life. When normal level of cholesterol increases it causes heart attack due to stiffness in the blood circulation.

If the level of cholesterol increases in the diet then the level of cholesterol increases in the human body.  Foods especially that contain many fats.
The excess level of cholesterol can be inherited in human it is observed that many families transfer this disease among each other. However excess use of food is the supplementary cause of cholesterol.

Low density Lypo protein (LDL) 150-200
High density Lypo protein (HDL) up to 35 mg/dl
Triglyceride     46-236 mg/dl
