Nature has beautiful n healthiest plants for human beings. Indoor plants were very trendy in the 1980s but went out of fashion along with bushy carpet and mission brown paint. Everything old is new again and indoor pot plants are all the go for health reasons. We taint the air simply by breathing and, with the heating and big TV on and all our personal devices running, it soon adds up. Research shows good air quality can greatly improve our stress levels and attention towards good things. The jade plant is an evergreen with thick branches and chunky, glossy, silky, leaves that grow in opposing pairs along the branches. Leaves are a rich jade green, although some appear to be more of a yellow-green. Some varieties may develop a red tinge on the edges of leaves when exposed to high levels of sunlight. New stem growth is the same color and texture as the leaves, but becomes brown and woody with age. Under the right conditions, they may produce small white or pink star-like flowers in early spring.
The plant has shiny, barbed and oval leaves that come out from the soil. The white flowers appear from the leaf stalk bounded by a cupped white wave that gradually fades from pure white to greenish or yellow over time. The central spadix is white or yellow. These plants are local to the rainforests of Central and South America.
African Violets can be grown in almost any home. With proper care, varieties with 1" to 2" flowers of pink, blue, purple, white or bicolor will bloom prolifically. Both single and double flowering varieties have a multitude of flower and leaf characteristics. Flowers come with smooth, ruffled or frilled petals and the leaves range from green to bronze. Some leaves have pinkish or white variegation.
Philodendrons have an extremely diverse array of growth methods. Philodendron species can be found in many diverse habitats in the tropical America and the West Indies. The leaves are usually big and magnificent, often lobed or deeply cut, and may be mo re or less pinnate. They can also be oval, spear-shaped, or in many other possible shape variations.
Lucky bamboo charmed its way into the hearts of plant lovers because it requires only basic care to flourish. Just attach the stems in some water, enclose them with pebbles for sustain and watch them grow. The one complaint about lucky bamboo is that its leaves tend to develop deceased, dehydrated, and ugly tips, or tip burn.
